Connect to JBoss / Wildfly

When OverOps is installed on your machine, connect it to your Tomcat server.

Follow the instructions of the relevant Tomcat launch configuration:

Standalone JBoss/Wildfly

Eclipse Plugin

IntelliJ Plugin

NetBeans Plugin

 

Standalone JBoss/Wildfly

To connect to JBoss/Wildfly running on Linux/macOS:

  1. Locate the standalone.conf file under {jboss dir}/bin.
  2. Add the following line near the end of the file:
    JAVA_OPTS="$JAVA_OPTS -agentlib:TakipiAgent"
  3. Restart JBoss.
  4. Test the installation: From the OverOps web application dashboard, click Add Server. From the dialog box, click Next and then click Test Installation.

    When the connection is established, the JVM status is 'Monitoring'.

  5. Test that your application throws exceptions.

 

To connect to Tomcat running on Windows:

  1. Locate the standalone.conf.bat file under {jboss dir}\bin.
  2. Add the following line near the end of the file:
    set JAVA_OPTS=%JAVA_OPTS% -agentlib:TakipiAgent
  3. Restart JBoss.
  4. Test the installation: From the OverOps web application dashboard, click Add Server. From the dialog box, click Next and then click Test Installation.

    When the connection is established, the JVM status is 'Monitoring'.

  5. Test that your application throws exceptions.

 

Eclipse Plugin

  1. From Eclipse, open the Servers window.
  2. Double-click Wildfly (JBoss) server.
  3. Click Open launch configurations.
  4. In the right pane, switch to the Arguments tab, and in the VM arguments field, add: 
    -agentlib:TakipiAgent at the end of the string.

  5. Click OK.
  6. Restart JBoss.
  7. Test the installation: From the OverOps web application dashboard, click Add Server. From the dialog box, click Next and then click Test Installation.

    When the connection is established, the JVM status is 'Monitoring'.

  8. Test that your application throws exceptions.

 

IntelliJ Plugin

  1. From IntelliJ, open Edit Configurations.

  2. From Run/Debug Configurations, in the VM options field, add: -agentlib:TakipiAgent



  3. Click OK.
  4. Restart JBoss.
  5. Test the installation: From the OverOps web application dashboard, click Add Server. From the dialog box, click Next and then click Test Installation.

    When the connection is established, the JVM status is 'Monitoring'.

  6. Test that your application throws exceptions.

     

NetBeans Plugin

  1. From NetBeans, from the Services window (Window | Services), click Servers.
  2. Right click the Wildfly Application Server and select Properties.
  3. In the Server Properties dialog box, switch to the Platform tab.
  4. In the VM Options field, add: -agentlib:TakipiAgent

  1. Click Close.
  2. Restart JBoss.
  3. Test the installation: From the OverOps web application dashboard, click Add Server. From the dialog box, click Next and then click Test Installation.

    When the connection is established, the JVM status is 'Monitoring'.

  4. Test that your application throws exceptions.
